Francois and Fatuma Tuyishime, the proud owners of this new coffee shop in Somerville’s Teele Square, have a deep passion for both coffee and their home country of Rwanda. Their love for these two things has led them to open a cheery little coffee shop that celebrates exclusively Rwandan coffee growers.
Both Francois and Fatuma come from different regions of Rwanda but share a strong connection to the country's thriving coffee industry. Francois hails from the southwestern part of Rwanda, where his family has been growing coffee crops for generations. Growing up on their farm, he developed an early appreciation for the art of cultivating and harvesting high-quality coffee beans. It was this love for coffee and his desire to showcase the incredible flavors of Rwandan beans that inspired him to open this unique coffee shop.
The couple's combined knowledge and expertise in both the Rwandan coffee industry and specialty brewing techniques are evident in every cup they serve. They have carefully curated a menu that exclusively features coffees sourced directly from small-scale farmers in Rwanda. By doing so, they aim to promote fair trade practices and support local communities back in their home country.
One sip of their expertly brewed Rwandan coffees will transport you to the lush hillsides of Rwanda where these beans are grown. The distinct flavors and aromas unique to each region within Rwanda can be tasted in every cup. Whether you prefer your brew light or dark, with hints of chocolate or citrus, Francois and Fatuma have something on offer
